Last April, Viña Caliterra reached a most relevant achievement that will surely come down as one of the most important landmarks in its long track record of sustainability and respect for the environment. As of April, the entire energy matrix used in Caliterra vineyard located in Colchagua Valley corresponds to 100% renewable energy. This means that all of its energy supply is acquired from clean and non-polluting sources derived from renewable resources that are naturally and constantly replenished, such as solar, wind or hydroelectric power, among others.
For Rodrigo Zamorano, Caliterra Winemaker, this landmark reinforces the winery’s sustainable philosophy, focused on producing top quality wines, while caring for the environment and its communities: “For years Caliterra have been working to convert our energetic sources in the vineyard from non-renewable energy towards 100% renewable sources. This major achievement strengthens our commitment with all our clients and customers around the globe that our wines have been crafted in the most sustainable way possible, from the very beginning in our own vineyard.”
It is worth noting that the difference between clean or renewable energy compared to the conventional non-renewable energy that is traditionally used is not quality, but the sources from which it comes and that it does not contribute to global warming.
In addition, Viña Caliterra is currently working on a data collection program to determine accurately how much energy is used, its positive impact on the environment and other variables, expected to be ready during this year.
