After three years unable to take place due to the pandemic, finally on September 30, Premium Tasting was held again in Santiago, with 350 guests who filled the Patagonia Room of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel.
The event was led by a panel of experts made up of wine journalist Ana María Barahona, wine journalist and author of Descorchados Guide Patricio Tapia, and Sommelier Héctor Riquelme. For more than five hours, they were in charge of presenting each of the 42 wines that made up the 7 flights, paired with 21 gastronomic preparations specially created by the chef of the hotel. In total, 30 reds, 9 whites, 2 sparkling and a sweet wine were tasted.
Viña Caliterra participated with Pétreo Malbec 2019, presented by winemaker Rodrigo Zamorano.
Premium Tasting is a massive tasting organized by Nicolás Alemán from Mendoza since 2011, which consists of a great blind tasting for 350 people where the best bottles of local viticulture are tasted. The purpose is to enjoy and learn about the most outstanding wines of South America from the voice of their creators and specialists in an exclusive blind tasting in which winemakers, agronomists, winery owners, sommeliers, wine buyers, press and wine lovers participate.
The first version in Santiago was held in 2016, and since then it has already been held five times to date.
