In mid-November, wine scores were announced by the prestigious Descorchados 2024, South America’s leading wine guide, published by renowned Chilean wine writer and critic, Patricio Tapia.

This year, Caliterra Cenit 2021—a blend that offers the noblest expression of our terroir, aged for 24 months in French oak barrels, allowing the wine to achieve its greatest elegance and complexity—obtained an historic 97 points to become the Best Wine of Colchagua Entre Cordilleras.

Commenting on this major milestone, Viña Caliterra Head Winemaker, Alberto Eckholt, affirmed, “We are very proud of the tremendous distinction Cenit 2021 has earned. It’s taken years of research to show a different Colchagua, one that highlights the unique character, finesse and freshness of our vineyard. We will keep working to attain excellence and recognition for our wines, and for those who have enabled this result.”

Along with this achievement, Caliterra Pétreo Malbec 2021 was also awarded 97 points and named Best Colchagua Entre Cordilleras and Best Malbec (in a tie). For its part, Caliterra Pétreo Carmenere 2021 earned 95 points in the ranking of Best Colchagua Entre Cordilleras and Best Carmenere.

In addition to debuting and spotlighting its new environmentally friendly image, the Tributo line also earned top honours in the Descorchados guide. Caliterra Tributo Malbec 2021 and Caliterra Tributo Carmenere 2022 were both applauded with an excellent 93 points, and the line’s Malbec earned a place in the Best Malbec ranking as well. Tributo Sauvignon Blanc 2022 received 92 points, while Tributo Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Tributo Chardonnay 2022 both obtained 91 points.

These illustrious scores reflect Viña Caliterra’s ongoing efforts to produce wines of the highest quality in line with its sustainable philosophy.
