During his traditional annual visit to Chile, the renowned North American wine critic, James Suckling, along with the senior editor of the publication, Zekun Shuai, tasted the new vintages of Viña Caliterra in February.

On this occasion, Caliterra Cenit 2021, a blend that showcases the noblest expression of its terroir and rests for a lengthy 24 months in French oak barrels, allowing this wine to reach maximum elegance and complexity, stood out as one of the favorites, achieving outstanding 94 points:

“A subtle touch of sweet spices to juicy berries and crunchy cherries. On the palate, it is succulent, crisp, and quite restrained, with a medium body and a long, fluid finish. I love its elegance, with its its mouthwatering quality that pulls you back a bit away from the Chilean sun (…).”

Likewise, Caliterra Pétreo Carmenere 2022 obtained this outstanding score of 94 points for the second consecutive year:

“Notes of tapenade, black beans, unroasted coffee beans and raw spices on top of its red fruit character. On the palate, it is juicy, medium-bodied, and quite linear, accentuating elegance (…). Tannins are fine and extremely velvety. Quite long and extensive. An outstanding Carmenere that shows the intrinsically spicy side of the grape.”

In turn, Caliterra Pétreo Malbec 2022 was recognized with 93 points, and the Caliterra Tributo line received 90 points for its Mezcla Tinta 2021 (red blend), Cabernet Sauvignon 2022, and Sauvignon Blanc 2023 wines.

Congratulations to the Caliterra team for making possible the crafting of each of these quality wines with unique terroir, great representatives of the Colchagua Valley!
