Caliterra Pétreo Carmenere 2021 shines among the Top 100 Wines of Chile 2023 by James Suckling
As has become tradition, influential American wine critic James Suckling has published his list of the best wines from different wine-producing countries. At the end of last year, he revealed the “Top 100 Wines 2023 Chile” in which Caliterra Pétreo Carmenere 2021 ranked 31st with an outstanding score of 94 points.
This wine comes from the highest and coolest part of the vineyard where the soil is mainly granitic, giving it qualities that make it a unique representative of the Colchagua Valley.
James Suckling described it as follows: “Caliterra Pétreo Carmenere 2021: A fresh, very distinctive nose with lots of dark spices, cement and minerals on top of the plums and cherries. A hint of blue fruit and fresh herbs as well. Really poised and fresh palate with soft, fine tannins. Nothing overstated, rather quiet and soft-spoken. Juicy, bright finish. A very bold carmenere.”
This accolade, together with those given to this wine by other international critics, reinforces Viña Caliterra’s commitment to continue crafting wines of the highest quality that remain true to its philosophy of sustainability.
